Preparing your logo for embroidery

For embroidered workwear and other embroidery, you send us your logo and we do the skilled part in house: digitising it, which means turning your artwork into a stitch file the machine can sew. This page is about the artwork you send. Placement and sizes are on the product pages.

What to send

  • Ideal: a vector file (EPS, AI, PDF or SVG). Vector gives us clean edges and the best digitised result.
  • Also fine: a high-quality raster file, such as a sharp, high-resolution PNG or JPEG.
  • Whatever you send, the cleaner and clearer the logo, the better it comes out in thread.

Digitising

We digitise your logo in house, converting it into an embroidery file. There is a one-off digitising charge for a new logo, which then carries over, so reorders of the same logo do not pay it again.

What works well in thread

  • Solid shapes, bold marks and clear flat colours embroider beautifully.
  • Gradients, colour blends and photographs do not translate to thread, so they have to be simplified into solid colours.
  • Small text and fine detail: we can stitch down to about 3mm high. Below that, it may not hold.

Colour

We stitch in Madeira threads and match your colours as closely as we can from that range. Because the colour comes from real thread rather than ink, it is a close match rather than an exact one. If you have specific brand colours, send them and we will get as near as the range allows.

Reproduction rights

By sending us a logo to embroider, you are confirming that you own it or hold the right to have it reproduced.

Approval and turnaround

  • Before we stitch, we send a PDF proof. It shows your digitised logo on your chosen garments, in the positions you have picked, plus a page with the sizes and the Madeira thread colours selected, so you can check everything first.
  • Please check it carefully, especially any names and spelling. What you approve is what we stitch. Approval is given in writing and is binding for the work. Full details are in our terms and conditions.
  • Turnaround is usually about 3 working days for the proof, then 5 to 10 working days to complete once you approve it.
